Building on my background in art, bodywork and social science, I create body awareness exercises as artistic intervention. I do research and teach at the intersection of art and science, foregrounding the body of the researcher as sensitive research instrument and teaching body awareness as a way to calibrate the instrument. Building on my PhD research on “Feeling Techniques (making methods to articulate bodily practices)”, I currently conduct research in art education, articulating the sensory knowledge and embodied skills taught by professional art teachers (see www.ulrikescholtes.de).
